Peter Shipps has been building homes on the West

Unlike many other builders, Peter Shipps began his
construction career doing both frame and trim carpentry
as well as cabinet and furniture making. “I believe
that my experience as a skilled carpenter is just as
important as my abilities as a designer. The construction
industry is filled with designers who don’t understand
the mechanics of construction and with builders who
don’t understand the importance of good design.”
Peter Shipps is also skilled in using computer-aided
design (CAD) in the planning and implementation of
his homes and communities. “The technology gives
us the advantage of accuracy and visualization that
is difficult to achieve without it. Sure, I still like
to sketch and plan on paper, but once the concept is
established, we take advantage of the capabilities
of the technology.”
The construction process requires a strong team and
the guidance of a qualified leader. Many of Peter Shipps’ staff
joined him early in his career. “The importance
of the relationships among my staff and our clients
is critical to achieving our goals in building each
